Star of the Week, Cooking, Bubbles with Book Buddies, Community Helpers

Star of the Week
This week our Star is a friend that loves the color pink and her favorite sport is tennis.  She wants to be a doctor when she grows up!

Cooking
This week we learned about the letter Bb, how to write it, the sound, and word that begin with the sound.  We used a recipe from our Kindergarten cookbook to make "Banana Bites."  They were yummy!!  It was even more special because our Dallas Baptist University student, Mrs. Chick, taught the lesson!

Bubbles with Book Buddies
Book Buddies blow bubbles in the breeze.  That's a mouthful of Bb's!!  We used our counting skills to count the bubbles we blew with our book buddies.

Community Helpers
We have been studying the jobs of various community helpers.  A community helper is anyone that has a job to help others.  Some examples are firefighters that protect our property, the barber that cuts our hair, the chef that cooks our food, or the bus driver that takes us to school.

We discussed what to do to prevent fires at our house and what to do if our clothes or hair started on fire.  Below the kids are practicing "Stop, Drop, and Roll."

On Thursday, the kids dressed as a community helper.

The future teachers of Florence Hill.

The future doctors saving lives.

We are safe with these boys protecting our streets and the country.

This chef and zoo keeper are so cute!!!

The firefighters came on Thursday morning to talk about their jobs and how to keep safe if we do have a fire it our house.  Then they let Mrs. Nieves' dress in the bunker gear and spray the water hose!!

Forces of Motion, Star of the Week, Birds, Cooking

Star of the Week
Our Star of the Week this week is a friend that like the color black and wants to be a police officer when he grows up!!

Cooking
This week we have studied and practiced the letter Ff.  We use our cookbooks to create Freshwater Fish.  They were yummy!!

Birds
The class birds have returned to school from their summer vacation.  We brainstormed a list of names, took a vote, and have named them "Sebastian" and "Redjay."  We love hearing their special chirping throughout the day.

Forces of Motion
This week we concluded our study of forces of motion.  We used a straw, a cup, a pom pom ball, and knowledges of focus of motion to play a game.  The object of this game was to push and pull the air through the straw to make it into the goal.  It wasn't as easy as it looks, but we did learn some tricks to get it into the goal!!
