Star of the Week, Thanksgiving, Graphs, Cooking Dirt

Star of the Week
Our Star of the Week is a friend that is always kind and helpful to her friends.  She likes the  color pink and wants to be a ballet teacher when she grows up.

Cooking Dirt
This week we worked on the letter Dd, it's sound, and words that begin with Dd.  For our cooking lesson, we followed a recipe to make "Dirt."  It had pebbles (Oreo cookies) and a worm (a gummy worm) in it.  It was so yummy to eat dirt!!  To top of the lesson, we had a special teacher!!  She is a Dallas Baptist University student that is practicing how to teach.  Thanks, Miss Salazar, for the yummy fun!!

Thanksgiving
This week we have continued our learning of Pilgrims, Indians, and the first Thanksgiving.  WE have talked about traditions, what traditions are, and why we have traditions.  Here are a few samples of things we have learned.  Don't forget our Thanksgiving Program is Friday, November 21, at 2:30!!!

Graphing
This week in Math we are learning about collecting data, organizing it into a graph, and using the "data" (YuP!!  We know that word!!) to analyze it (YUP
!!  We know that word, too!).

We started with a "real-life" graph using real objects.

We made a picture graph.  Did you know you can turn the graph side-ways and it still makes a graph that you can analyze?!?!

We made a real life graph of our hair color.
Our hair graph is so long it passes the table!!!

The picture graph of our hair color!

The real life graph of the kinds of shoes we were wearing.

We made a real life graph of the boys and girls in our class.  The boys are girls are EQUAL!!!!
