Star of the Week, St. Patrick's Day, Lion Cooking, Spring Observations

Star of the Week
This week out Star of the Week is a friend that loves the color pink and wants to be a doctor when she grows up.

St. Patrick's Day
O'Reilly the Leprechaun invaded our class!!!!  He made a HUGE mess!!  But, he left us some pretty awesome goodies to make up for it!  Each student got a shamrock and a lucky coin.  He also left us a letter with some "Magic Powder" with instructions to make a green pudding.  We definitely enjoyed making it.  When we left for recess, we came back and our chairs were switched.!  We still think O'Reilly is up to some tricks.  We have spent all week trying to catch him! Unfortunately, he is very tricky and we have not caught him.

Spring
This week we have been observing the signs of Spring.  We learned about trees budding, and blossoms, and flowers, and kites.  We went to the Habitat to observe it for signs of Spring and then drew our observations.

Our cabbage plants are enjoying the sunshine!
The trees have buds, blossoms, and new leaves.

Lion Cooking
This week we studied the letter Ll, how to write it, and words that begin with Ll.  We also learned about lions.  We discovered that the girl lion is the one that goes hunting and the boy lion is the one that protects the pride.  We also learned that they like to eat zebras….that didn't make Mrs. Nieves very happy!!!!  We used a recipe to make a lion snack and it was YUMMY!!!
