Star of the Week, Valentine Pizzas, Queen' Tarts, Fractions, and Equal Shares

Star of the Week
This week our Star of the Week was a new friend to our classroom.  She loves the color pink and wants to be a cheerleader when she grows up.

Valentine Pizzas
Last week, we studied the letter Vv, it's sound, and how to write it.  We made Valentine Pizzas by following the directions on a recipe.  P.S.--It's really a giant cookie!!!!

Queen's Tarts
This week, we studied the letter Qq, it's sound, and how to write it.  We made Queen's Tarts by following the directions on a recipe.  It we sooooooooo good!!!

Fractions and Equal Shares
This week, in Math, we have been working on half and whole fractions and equal shares.  One Monday we found all the ways to cut a slice of cheese in half so that each half was equal.  There were three ways!  Then we talked used "berries," "cookies," and "M&M's" to make equal shares with our friends.  We have had a few "tasting" sessions, too!

Farmer Day
This week we concluded our farm study.  We learned about different kind of animals, what foods we get from animals, what baby animals are called, what they eat, and how they help us.  We also learned about a farmers job, why they wear what they do, and why they are so important to us. On Tuesday, we dressed up like farmers.  It was a great day!
