Jungle Juice Cooking, Composing and Decomposing Numbers, Fall, Star of the Week

Star of the Week
This week our Star of the Week is a friend that like the color red, like to play Avengers, and wants to be a zoo keeper who takes care of the tigers when he grows up!

Jungle Juice Cooking
This week, we made Jungle Juice for the letter Jj.  We followed a recipe and created a yummy drink!  We practiced the letter Jj, it's sound, and how to write it.

Composing and Decomposing Numbers
Composing and Decomposing numbers is a fancy way of saying that we are breaking the number apart.  For example, to make a set of 4, we can have 3 red counters and 1 yellow counter and when we count them it makes a set of 4.  We can also change it to 2 red and 2 yellow will make 4.  We are number engineers:  we can break them up and put them back together!!

Below are picture of use composing and decomposing numbers.

Fall
Our study of Fall changes continues this week.  This week we read and learned about foods that are ready in the Fall, foods that we can make using them, and how to prevent the animals from taking our food!!

Farmers using scarecrows to scare away the birds in the field.  We made a brace map to show the parts to make a scarecrow.

We tasted the three colors of apples to determine which one we liked the best.

We made a graph to help us organize the information from our apple tasting and then used the a "data" to learn from the results. (YES!!  Your child uses the word "data"!!!!)

We compared and contrasted apples and pumpkins.  Did you know pumpkins are a fruit, too?  We do!!!

Book Fair
This week was the Scholastic Book Fair.  While we were about to leave on Wednesday, Clifford came to visit the book fair and our class!!  We loved seeing him!!!
